Every Makeup Mania competition round opens with a shared theme prompt for the whole room. The prompts confirmed so far include Goth, Fairycore, Y2K, and Clean Girl. The game is still in BETA, so treat this list as a snapshot: the theme pool is expected to keep expanding while the developers add content.
Below is practical styling guidance for each documented prompt. There are no official color codes for these looks — palettes are described verbally so you can match them with your own eyes in the vanity.
Goth
- Vibe: dark, dramatic, high contrast.
- Eyeshadow and liner: build a gradient from deep plum into charcoal, keep a sharp cut crease on the outer corner, and finish with a bold graphic wing that points at the inner corner too.
- Lashes: reach for spiky or clustered 3D lashes with a manga feel — they read clearly during the facial close-up poses.
- Lips: trace a dark liner and blur it inward toward a deep wine gloss in the center.
Fairycore
- Vibe: soft, light, and a little otherworldly.
- Approach: keep the base light and airy, favor gentle washes over hard lines, and let shimmer on the eyes do the talking. A delicate wing and fluttery lashes suit the prompt better than heavy drama.
Y2K
- Vibe: playful early-2000s pop energy.
- Approach: think glossy and fun — shiny lips, frosted or bright eye accents, and a clean confident liner. Keep the shapes crisp so the look still reads in a two-second close-up.
Clean Girl
- Vibe: polished, minimal, “your face but perfected.”
- Approach: accuracy beats volume here. Even skin tone work, tidy brows, subtle definition around the eyes, and a natural lip. Restraint is the whole point — check symmetry constantly.
How to prepare for any prompt
- Read the prompt the moment it appears and decide your palette before touching a brush.
- Set the skin tone first, then block in the largest areas while time is plentiful.
- Reserve the final stretch for lashes, hair, and small corrections — details are what voters see in the close-up poses.
- Practice unfamiliar themes in Freeplay so a new prompt never catches you mid-experiment during a scored round.
